Delta Downs Gets Approval for Slots

Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) received unanimous approval Tuesday from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board for its gaming license to operate slot machines at its Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino. The Company has refurbished and expanded the facility and hopes to operate 1,700 state-of-the-art slot machines in the casino. While horse racing will begin its season in November, the Company plans to open the casino operation by mid-December 2001.

William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said about the gaming approval, "With the horse racing season set to begin November 17, we are very pleased with our gaming license approval for Delta Downs.
