Fasig-Tipton Schedules Charity Auction

Stallion seasons to Point Given, Artax, Unbridled's Song, and Free House will be up for auction at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Nov. 9 to benefit the NTRA Charities-New York Heroes Fund. The auction and a cocktail reception are part of the sale company's stallion access sale that evening.

Auction of the Heroes Fund items is set for 8:30 p.m. The stallion access sale begins at 7:30.

"Members of the Thoroughbred community have given generously to the Heroes Fund, and we hope that they will continue to support this cause by participating in the Fasig-Tipton auction," Breeders' Cup president D.G. Van Clief Jr. said.

Individuals who want to bid by telephone must contact Fasig-Tipton at 859- 255-1555 by noon Nov. 9. Detailed descriptions of each auction item will be posted on the NTRA's Web site (ntra.com).

Artworks to be auctioned include two 30-by-36 inch oil paintings by equine artist John Berry; a pencil drawing of leading sire Storm Cat by artist Thomas Allen Pauly; and special autographed Preakness Stakes reproduction saddlecloths that bear a New York Heroes Fund motif and the names of Point Given, Monarchos, and A P Valentine.

Sports packages include a VIP ticket package for four to the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, including roundtrip airfare, ground transportation, and hotel accommodations for three nights; a 2002 Triple Crown package for two, including airfare, hotel, VIP seating, parking and programs; two tickets and accommodations for three nights in Atlanta for the 2002 Final Four; a six-seat, courtside box for the 2002 U.S. Open Tennis Tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., including parking and lunch at Aces Restaurant; and "Race Like the Pros," a chance to get behind the wheel of a Winston Cup-style stock car for three eight-lap sessions at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C., with roundtrip airfare for two, deluxe hotel accommodations for two nights, ground transportation and $500 in spending money also included.
