Churchill Downs Simulcast Network will again offer the opportunity to wager on the combined outcome of three competitive turf races hosted by three CDSN racetracks over a period of 40 minutes. The Turf Pick 3 will be offered in wagering on the 11th race at Calder Race Course (Leg A) on each day of the promotion - Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18. The wager will also include the 10th race at Churchill Downs (Leg B) and the fifth race at Hollywood Park (Leg C). Calder's 11th race (Leg A) is scheduled to go to post at 4:53 p.m. EST, and the Churchill Downs and Hollywood Park races (Legs B and C) will quickly follow in approximately 20-minute intervals. Curran joined The Jockey Club staff as the director of special communications services in Dec. 1998. ...Hoosier Park will host Ladies Night Nov. 10 with Television Games Network analyst Caton Bredar heading the lineup. Races seven, eight, and nine will showcase all female riders from across the Midwest, including Zoe Cadman, Greta Kuntzweiler, Kristina Knorr, Cynthia Medina, Joddie Fortner, Angela Owens, Beth Butler, Bonnie Castaneda, Rhonda Collins, and Cindy Noll, Hoosier Park's all-time winning female rider. . ...Veteran trainer Tony Chavez, a long-time fixture on the Southern California circuit, died last week. Chavez, nicknamed "The Fish" because of a previous career as a deep-sea fisherman, is best remembered for putting Laffit Pincay Jr on his 8,000th career winner, El Toreo. Chavez retired from training in March 2000.
