A full sister to classic winner Galileo sold for 1.1 million guineas (about US$1,648,300) to John Magnier Friday at Tattersalls December foal sale.

The bay filly is by Sadler's Wells out of Urban Sea, herself a half sister to last year's Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner King's Best and to group III winner Allez Les Trois. Urban Sea is out of Allegretta, who has become the dam or grandam of three individual European classic winners in the past year and a half.

Magnier is the managing partner of Coolmore Stud, which bred Galileo. His wife, Susan, is the owner of the classic winner who captured this year's Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I), Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I), and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I).

The filly, owned by an undisclosed partnership, was sold just after 3 p.m. (10 a.m. EST) at Tattersalls' Park Paddocks in Newmarket. Bidding started at 100,000 guineas and within 30 seconds escalated to 1,000,000 guineas. After another minute, Magnier cast his final bid and took the filly home.
