Twining's leading earner in 2001 is Two Item Limit, a 3-year-old filly who won the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) and earned $648,760 during the year. Two of his other stakes winners this year, Connected and Top Hit, won graded stakes.
Twining, who previously stood at Hilary Boone Jr.'s Wimbledon Farm near Lexington, will be returning to the Central Kentucky nursery in 2002. He stood the past two seasons at East Stud on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, and will remain the property of East Stud.Twining, by Forty Niner-Courtly Dee, by Never Bend, will stand for $10,000. When he stood at Wimbledon in 1999 his fee was $15,000. The 10-year-old stallion has had a big year in 2001, ranking 13th on the list of leading sires by progeny earnings through Dec. 20 with nearly $4.7 million. He has been represented this year by nine stakes winners and has sired 13 stakes winners lifetime.
