He was a grade I winner at both two and three at Meadowlands, winning the Young America Stakes in 1982 and the following year taking the Meadowlands Cup.Slewpy stood at Wooden Horse Stud in Florida in 1985 and 1986, then moved to Jonabell farm near Lexington through 1992. He stood at Kerr Stock Farm in California for three years before being relocated to Flag is Up Farms.
Slewpy, the sire of 26 stakes winners including 1992 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) winner Thirty Slews, died Dec. 19 at Monty Roberts' Flag is Up Farm near Solvang, Calif. The grade I winning son of Seattle Slew was 21.Slewpy was also connected to another Breeders' Cup moment, but a memorable one for another reason. His son Mr. Nickerson died during the running of the 1990 Sprint.Slewpy was represented this year by four stakes winners including graded stakes winners Rare Charmer and Road to Slew. Lifetime, he has sired the earners of over $16.5 million.
