Kim Brazzel, who served as a correspondent for The Blood-Horse, died the night of Dec. 23 following an auto accident near Hot Springs, Ark. He was 50.
Brazzel covered sports for numerous Arkansas newspapers and contributed to several racing publications. This year for The Blood-Horse, he covered Balto Star's triumph in the Arkansas Derby (gr. II) and other stakes during Oaklawn's closing week.
"Kim was the life of the press box," said track media director Terry Wallace. "Kim's passion for racing and people was a rare combination."
A memorial service will be held at Huson Funeral Home, Little Rock, at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 28.
