Retired jockey and trainer Bobby "Cotton" Gallimore, who was aboard co-champion Old Hat in several of the mare's wins, died Dec. 21 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Gallimore, who lived near Hot Springs, Ark., was 62.
A regular rider at Oaklawn, Gallimore guided Old Hat to added-money wins in the Fayette, Michigan Mile and One-Eighth, and Matron Handicaps during her championship season in 1965.
Gallimore also trained horses and owned and operated Springwood Farm near Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held Dec. 28 at Richard Street Church of Christ in Hot Springs at 11:00 p.m.
