In addition to her husband, Young is survived by a son, William T. Young Jr., and a daughter, Lucy, whose late husband, Francois Boutin, was a leading French trainer.
Lucy Maddox Young, whose husband, William T. Young, built Overbrook Farm near Lexington into one of the nation's leading nurseries, died Jan. 13. A Georgia native, she was 82.The Youngs married in 1945 and moved to Lexington that year. Lucy Young assisted her husband in establishing W.T. Young Foods, which was sold to Proctor & Gamble in 1955.Lucy Young, who participated in various social organizations, had a hand in naming some of the Overbrook horses. One of them, the Storm Cat filly Katz Me If You Can, was named after a doctor she liked. Katz Me If You Can was a graded stakes winner at Keeneland.
