Aqueduct Jockeys Released from Hospital

Jockeys Heberto Castillo Jr. and Roberto Villafan were released from the hospital Saturday, a day after being injured in a spill during a race at Aqueduct.

Castillo left Jamaica Hospital after receiving more than a dozen stitches to close a cut on his ear. Villafan was released from North Shore Hospital after hurting his wrist.

Villafan will return to riding on Sunday. Castillo may be sidelined a few days longer.

"It's going to be a day-to-day thing," he said.

The incident occured during Friday's seventh race when Castillo's mount, Madame Viceroy B B, swerved toward the rail in the stretch run, causing Villafan's mount, Born to Bop, to alter course and unseat Villafan.

Madame Viceroy B B sustained a fractured left front leg and was euthanized.
