First Foals for Mill Ridge Stallions Anees and Commendable

Anees, whose victory in the 1999 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) secured him a championship, and 2000 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Commendable were represented by their first foals. Anees' first foal, a colt out of the Damascus mare Veil Dance, was born Jan. 23 at Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zureick's Laurel Inc. near Middleburg, Va. The colt was bred by the Zureicks and William Russell. Veil Dance is a half-sister to millionaire Corporate Report.

Commendable's first foal is a colt born Jan. 19 at Lakland near Versailles, Ky. The farm is owned by Becky Thomas and Lewis Lakin, the two of whom bred the colt with James Kintz. The colt was produced from the stakes-winning Bertrando mare Chelan, who is booked to Anees.

Anees (Unbridled -- Ivory Idol, by Alydar) and Commendable (Gone West -- Bought Twice, by In Reality) stand at Dr. and Mrs. John Chandler's Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington.
