Decarchy Works Ahead of Saturday's Tanforan Handicap

Decarchy, who scratched from the Feb. 2 Turf Paradise Breeders' Cup Handicap, worked three furlongs at Hollywood Park Thursday in preparation for Saturday's Tanforan Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Golden Gate Fields. In Thursday's work, Decharchy went three in :37 4/5, handily, on a fast main track.

Juddmonte Farms' Decarchy will start under high weight of 120 pounds, a five- to seven-pound concession to his eight rivals. The Citation Handicap (gr. IIT) runner-up is by Distant View and out of Toussaud, making him a half-sibling of Chester House and Honest Lady, who were both grade I winners.

Decarchy has won four of seven starts, but hasn't been out since finishing second to Good Journey in the Citation on good turf at Hollywood Park. Prior to that, the now 5-year-old bay won three straight allowance races on firm turf. The Bobby Frankel trainee drew post six for the 1 1/16-mile test and will be ridden by Russell Baze.

The field for the $100,000 Tanforan, from the rail out with jockeys and weights, will consist of:

1--I'madrifter, Roberto Gonzalez, 115
2--Poker Brad, Kevin Krigger, 114
3--Ninebanks, Ben Russell, 113
4--Sea to See, Ronald Warren Jr., 114
5--Decarchy, Russell Baze, 120
6--Diggit, Frank Alvarado, 114
7--Sirpa, Jason Lumpkins, 114
8--Big Board, Mirco Demuro, 115
9--Takin It Deep, Jose Arriaga, 113
