Six Crowns also is the dam of grade I stakes-placed Tribunal and granddam of stakes winner and Triple Crown hopeful French Assault; Japanese grade II winner Silk Phoenix; and stakes winner Skywalker's Choice. Her last foal is an El Prado yearling filly.
Six Crowns, dam of champion Chief's Crown and multiple grade I winner Classic Crown, was euthanized Feb. 14 due to the infirmities of old age. The 26-year-old daughter of Secretariat will be buried next to her dam, Chris Evert (by Swoon's Son), at Robert N. Clay's Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky.Six Crowns' sire and dam were both Triple Crowns winners, hence her name. Six Crowns was bred by Carl Rosen and owned her entire life by Rosen and later by family members. She won the Meadow Queen Stakes and placed in six stakes, including the Ladies Handicap (gr. I). She was retired with five wins and earnings of $136,274 Six Crowns' second foal was Chief's Crown, who won the inaugural Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and was champion 2-year-old male. He retired to stud at Three Chimneys Farm and stood there until his death in 1997 following a paddock accident. Classic Crown, Six Crowns' fourth foal, was a New York grade I winner at two and three.
