Delaware Park Rejoins NTRA

Delaware has rejoined the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, after a one-year membership hiatus. The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, which has been an NTRA member since 1998, also renewed its membership in the NTRA.

Delaware Park is one of the country's most successful dual racetracks, combining horseracing and video lottery terminals (VLTs). The track's VLT facility opened in December 1995 and since then, purses at the facility have more than tripled, including that of Delaware Park's marquee race for fillies and mares, the Delaware Handicap, valued at $600,000 in 2002.

The Delaware Handicap will be televised on July 21 on ESPN2 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. as part of the NTRA's "Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships" Distaff Division programming.
