Godolphin Seven Stars Contest Opens

A luxury trip for two to the 2003 Dubai World Cup and $150,000 cash are the top prize in Godolphin's 2002 Seven Stars Competition, a free-to-enter on-line racing contest.

The competition began accepting entries Friday and continues through March 22 at www.godolphin.com.

Entrants choose the seven Godolphin horses they think will do best at the races throughout the year. The Web site offers extensive background about the horses. Points are awarded to horses finishing first, second or third in races, with extra points for the 21 bonus races which include the four Group I contests on Dubai World Cup night: the Dubai Sheema Classic, the Dubai Golden Shaheen, the Dubai Duty Free, and the Dubai World Cup.

The first day for points being awarded in 2002 is March 23, Dubai World Cup Day, and the final day is Sunday, December 15, 2002, Hong Kong International Day, which respectively see the initial and last legs of the World Series Racing Championship.

Generous prizes will be given to the top seven contestants and to the points-leader from each country represented by at least 250 entries and is not represented among the top seven finishers. Second and third place receive $100,000 and a fabulous holiday to Dubai. The prizes for the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh are $25,000, $20,000, $15,000 and $10,000, respectively. The consolation prize to the top entrants from each country is $1,000. All cash prizes are awarded in U.S. dollars.

Hamid Benzerrouk of Rouen, France, won the 2001 Godolphin Seven Stars Competition. He chose Fantastic Light, Sakhee, Noverre, Street Cry, Tobougg, Mamool and Tempera, which earned 599 points, 26 clear of the runner-up.
