Doninga To Expand Into Yearling Market

David and Ginger Mullins, best known for selling broodmares under their Doninga banner, are expanding their business into the yearling market this year. They have nominated two horses to the Keeneland July select yearling sale, and they also plan to participate as consignors in other yearling auctions throughout the season.

"We've always considered doing this, but now we have a client who wants us to do it and it seems like a good time expand our business," David Mullins said. "We want to keep it very small and select."

The Mullinses nominated a Storm Cat--Amelia Bearhart filly, who is a half-sister to two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart, to Keeneland's July auction. They also nominated a Coronado's Quest colt.

Last year, the Mullinses sold the mare Saoirse (in foal to Seeking the Gold) at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale for $2.2 million. Their Doninga Farm is located near Lexington.
