With owners Jack and Laurie Wolf looking on, Halran's Holiday breezed five furlongs in 1:00 1/5 at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday as he continued preparations for the March 16, $1-million Florida Derby (gr. I).
Exercise rider Lorna Vanderford was aboard for the work as the work was observed by the Wolfs, who had flown to Florida from Atlanta, and stable manager Barry Berkelhammer.
"He went well this morning," trainer Ken McPeek said of the multiple stakes winner. "I'll probably work him next Tuesday and that will be it. He's doing very well."
A 3-year-old son of Harlan, Harlan's Holiday won three stakes in his native Ohio before shipping to Kentucky where he accounted for the Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) as a 2-year-old. This year, the colt finished second to Booklet in both the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III) and Fountain of Youth (gr. I).
