Arkansas Breeder/Owner Irene Udouj Dead

Irene Udouj, who owned Sundridge Farm near Fort Smith, Ark., died March 13. She was 83.

Udouj and her late husband, Herman, earned a 1984 Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Award as Arkansas' most successful owners and breeders. The couple also were recipients of the Arkansas Breeder of the Year award on several other occasions.

The Udoujs bred 16 stakes winners, two of which were bred in the farm name. Irene Udouj campaigned nine added-money winners, including one in partnership. The group included such graded stakes winners as Barbizon Streak, Silver Florin, and Silver Hope.
