Kris S, (Roberto--Sharp Queen, by Princequillo) sired 62 stakes winners, including Breeders' Cup (gr. I) winners Brocco, Hollywood Wildcat, Prized, and Soaring Softly. A California stakes winner, he stood in Florida before being moved to WinStar for the 1994 season.
Prominent Central Kentucky stallion Kris S., who was relieved of stallion duty in late February at Kenny Troutt and Bill Casner's WinStar Farm near Versailles because of cervical pain, has been pensioned after failing to respond to treatment. The 25-year-old syndicated stallion impregnated six of his 10 mares."Unfortunately, Kris S. has not responded to treatment for the neck injury he incurred in late February, and it is clear that his stud career must come to an end," said farm president Doug Cauthen. "We are trying to keep him comfortable, but going back into service is out of the question. He has been a real warrior--both as a stallion and now as a patient."Kris S. earlier was examined for spinal ataxia at Hagyard-Davidson- McGee veterinary clinic near Lexington. He failed to show any of the symptoms associated with that ailment.
