Making the move with Seattle Slew were his long time groom, Tom Wade, and assistant, Carlos Arreola, "They are there full time now," Taylor said. "Tom stays in an apartment in the stallion barn."Seattle Slew (Bold Reasoning--My Charmer, by Poker) is recuperating from spinal surgery performed March 6. He was relieved of stallion duty Feb. 25 and his breeding future remains uncertain.
It didn't take long for Seattle Slew to start acting like his old self at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Farms near Lexington, Ky."It's unbelievable the way he has adjusted," said syndicate manager and co-owner Mickey Taylor a few days after the 28-year-old Triple Crown winner arrived at Hill 'n' Dale from Robert N. Clay's Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky. "He's settled in nicely, and we're walking him three times a day, adding a minute each time. He's out grazing several times a day and does that about 10 or 12 minutes each time."Seattle Slew was moved April 1 to relieve the stress created by being too close to the breeding shed at Three Chimneys. "He's now about 100 yards from where they unload the mares," Taylor said.
