Lake Lady Out of Oaks; To Get Break

Although she has no apparent injury, Lake Lady has been removed from consideration for the Kentucky Oaks and will be given a break from competition, according to trainer Steve Asmussen.

Asmussen said he based the decision on how Lake Lady came out of her workout earlier Monday when she breezed four furlongs in :49 2/5.

"I don't think she came out of the work 100 percent," Asmussen said. "This is absolutely not a group of horses you can play around with. She has had some hard races this spring and if she is not 100 percent we are going to back off and give her some time."

Asmussen said X-rays to determine if the filly had an injury proved negative.

Lake Lady finished second to See How She Runs in the Fantasy Stakes and was second to Kentucky Oaks co-favorite Take Charge Lady in the Fair Grounds Oaks.
