Cashier's Dream and Colonial Glitter, the respective 1-2 finishers in the Debutante Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs last July, will again race under the twin spires in Thursday's $100,000 La Troienne Stakes (gr. III) for 3-year-old fillies.
Heiligbrodt Racing Stable and Team Valor's Cashier's Dream will be making her first start since finishing second to Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) contender You in the Frizette Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park last October. The daughter of Service Stripe won her only career race contested at the La Troienne distance of seven furlongs -- last year's Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) – and set a Churchill track record for 5 1/2 furlongs when winning the Debutante. Donnie Meche will guide the Steve Asmussen-trained Michigan-bred filly.
Colonial Glitter has raced four times this year, winning twice, including a 10 1/2-length romp in the Bourbonette Breeders' Cup Stakes at Turfway Park. She also won a six-furlong allowance at Gulfstream Park and finished second in the 1 1/16-mile Davona Dale Stakes. She finished off the board for the first time in her career in her most recent race, a sixth-place finish in the Ashland Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland. The 3rd Turn Stables runner is by Glitterman and out of the Pleasant Colony mare Colonial Ally. She is trained by Paul McGee.
The La Troienne field will consist of:
