Fisich (by Halling) finished second after making the lead after 6 1/2 furlongs. Polycar, an American-bred son of Mystery Storm, came home third, a length behind Fisich. Mister Cavern was fourth of 18 runners.

The Fosters-International winner Castle Gandolfo will make his next start in Saturday's Kentucky Derby (gr. I).Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's Aramram, beaten by 2 1/2 lengths when second in the Fosters-International, returned two weeks after the April 6 race to win the Stanley Racing Thirsk Classic Trial by a length over Sohaib, completing the mile in 1:37.10 on firm turf. Wednesday, Dupont returned to turf to win the Italian 2,000 Guineas, completing the mile in 1:37.80 on a firm course. Fosters International fourth-place finisher Tumbleweed Charm came back 12 days after the race to finish third in a seven-furlong race at Newmarket.Dupont, a son of Zafonic, finished 3 1/2 lengths behind Castle Gandolfo in the Fosters-International. The Wentworth Racing homebred trained by Willie Haggas has now won three of seven career starts, with the Guineas marking his first in stakes company. He is a full brother of German group II winner Pacino.
