In Excess Colt Turns In Fastest Quarter Mile Work at Barretts

Zayed, a son of In Excess, turned in the fastest quarter mile work Thursday during the first session of the under tack show for the Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds in training, covering the distance in :21.20. Consigned by Kristin Mulhall, agent, the colt was produced from the unraced Storm Cat mare Stormin Lady, who is a half-sister to graded winner Ifyoucouldseemenow (by Tunerup) and to stakes winners Doyouseewhatisee (by Barachois) and Nowi'veseenitall (by Exuberant).

Bred by The Thoroughbred Corp., the colt was consigned to the 2001 Keeneland September yearling sale by Hopewell Farm, agent, but was bought back for $22,000.

Four two-year-olds tied for the fastest 1/8 mile work with a time of :10.20. They were:

Be Brite Over a filly by High Brite out of stakes-placed Miss Intergreen. She is consigned by Double Bar S Ranch.

Touch Silk, a filly by Touch Gold out of stakes winner Silken Magic. She is consigned by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, agent for Bailey-Ellenberg Select.

Glance Wink Smile, a filly by Announce out of stakes winner Took for Granite. She is consigned by Clear Creek Farm, agent.

And Ridiska, a colt by In Excess out of Tridiskia Phoebia. He is consigned by Clear Creek Farm, agent.

The second session of the under tack show is scheduled for 10 a.m. (PDT) Friday at Fairplex Park in Southern California. The auction will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14.
