Keeneland has catalogued 200 horses for its July 15-16 selected yearling sale. The catalogued yearlings were selected from more than 600 entries.
The number of catalogued horses is up considerably from 2001, when 164 were catalogued for the sale.
Sire Deputy Minister is represented by the largest number of yearlings at 16. He's followed by Kingmambo with 13, A.P. Indy (10), Unbridled's Song (nine), Saint Ballado (eight) Storm Cat (eight), Seeking The Gold (seven), Unbridled (seven), and Danzig (five).
Of the sires whose first crop are yearlings, Forestry leads the way with eight horses in the July sale. He's followed by Exploit with seven, Old Trieste (five), Charismatic (three), Victory Gallop (two), and Artax, Horse Chestnut, Silver Charm, and Stravinsky each with one.
Progency of two recently deceased stallions also will be sold. Kris S. will be represented with four yearlings, and Nureyev with two.
At last year's Keeneland July sale, 89 yearlings sold for $63.2 million. The average, which has increased in each of the last seven years, was $710,247.
The catalogue will be available online the week of May 27 at keeneland.com. Hard copies of the catalogue will be distributed the week of June 10.
