Congaree, Hallowed Dreams Add Spice to Memorial Day Card at Lone Star Park

While the return of Congaree in the $300,000 Lone Star Park Handicap (gr. III) is the feature race on Monday's holiday card at the Texas track, Hallowed Dreams' attempt to repeat in the Valid Expectations Stakes adds spice to the 11-race card. Aside from the Lone Star Park Handicap and Valid Expectations Stakes, Lone Star offers five other stakes race Monday.

Twelve horses are entered in the Memorial Day card's main event, with Congaree the 7-5 favorite in the 1 1/16-mile race. He'll be ridden by Pat Day and will race without blinkers. The field will consist of:

In the Valid Expectations, Hallowed Dreams faces four rivals as the 9-5 favorite in the six-furlong race. Marlon St. Julien will ride the winner of 25 of 29 career races for the second time. In his previous ride on the 5-year-old Louisiana-bred, Hallowed Dreams finished second in the Pan Zareta Handicap in February in her only other start this year.
