Castle Gandolfo, Galileo Sibling Entered in Sunday's French Derby

Trainer Aidan O'Brien entered four horses to run in Sunday's Prix du Jockey Club -- French Derby (Fr-I) at Chantilly, including Kentucky Derby (gr. I) participant Castle Gandolfo and Black Sam Bellamy, a full brother of Epsom and Irish Derby winner Galileo.

Castle Gandolfo (by Gone West) finished 12th in the Kentucky Derby, but he did finish second in a French group I race as a juvenile. In the Criterium de Saint-Cloud he finished a length behind stablemate Ballingarry, a runner-up in last weekend's Italian Derby (Ity-I).

Black Sam Bellamy (Sadler's Wells) earned his maiden win on April y at The Curragh and subsequently finished third in the Prix Hocquart (Fr-II) at Longchamp on May 8 before being moved up to second due to a disqualification. O'Brien also entered Temple of Artemis and Diaghilev.

Act One (In the Wings) comes into the French Derby a winner of each of his five career races, including the Prix Lupin on May 12 at Longchamp. As a 2-year-old, he defeated subsequent French 2,000 Guineas winner Landseer in the Criterium International (Fr-I).

Simeon (Lammtarra) also enters the 1 1/2-mile French classic with a five-race win streak. Jumeirah Racing's Mark Johnston trainee finished second in his first two career races but has done nothing but win since then. In late April, he earned his first stakes win in the Heathorns Classic Trial (Eng-III).
