New York City OTB Has Big Belmont Day

New York City Off-Track Betting Corp. had the second-biggest day in its history on June 8, Belmont Stakes Day, with total handle of $7,850,099.

Handle on the Belmont Stakes alone was $3,343,618, about $750,000 more than the previous handle record on the race.

"The enthusiasm and handle that the race generated in the city was simply extraordinary," said Raymond Casey, president of New York City OTB, which began taking wagers in 1971.

New York City OTB operates 66 branches, five restaurants, and three teletheaters. It also offers account wagering.
