Fuzzy Star Added to Queen's Plate List of Starters

Trainer Michael Petro has added Fuzzy Star to the list of starters for Sunday's $1 million Queen's Plate at Woodbine. The addition of Fuzzy Star increases the field to 14 for Canada's most prestigious race.

Fuzzy Star is the son of 1996 Sovereign Award winner Langfuhr. The Quebec-bred colt has run nine times in his career, but his only start at Woodbine came in the May 4 Queenston Stakes, where he finished fifth, beaten four lengths to Shaws Creek. He last finished fifth in the May 18 Fran Labelle Memorial Handicap at Delaware Park.

Coming Home Stables supplemented Fuzzy Star to the Queen's Plate on May 15 for $15,500. He was listed at 75-1 in the May update of the Queen's Plate Winterbook.

The probable field for the Queen's Plate includes: Adjalah (Richard Dos Ramos); Anglian Prince (Jim McAleney); Barbeau Ruckus (Dino Luciani); Bravely (Constant Montpellier); Classic Mike (Jono Jones); Cree Power (Emile Ramsammy); Ford Every Stream (Todd Kabel); Forever Grand (Patrick Husbands); Fuzzy Star (Nick Petro); Mountain Beacon (Robert Landry); Shaws Creek (Jake Barton); Streakin Rob (Chantal Sutherland); T J's Lucky Moon (Steven Bahen); and Twice Bid (Mickey Walls).

Other Queen's Plate Developments

Adjalah, with jockey Richard Dos Ramos in the irons, worked five furlongs over Woodbine's main track. The son of Gold Fever was timed in 1:00 4/5, breezing. He recorded a three-furlong split of :35 3/5, and galloped out six furlongs in 1:15-flat. The track was rated fast.

Adjalaj, owned by Beclawat Stable, has two wins in eight career starts. He was eighth in the Plate Trial on June 1.
