Shaws Creek Lukewarm Queen's Plate Favorite

Jam Jar Racing Stable's Shaws Creek, winner of the Queenston and Plate Trial Stakes in his last two starts, has been installed the 3-1 favorite for Sunday's Queen's Plate at Woodbine, despite drawing the outside post in the 14-horse field.

The 1 1/4-mile mile race for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds attracted a field of 14 who will each carry 126 pounds.

Shaws Creek, trained by John Ross, will break from the outside post position. Last year's Plate winner, Dancethruthedawn, came from the outside post as well (post 10 of 10). Jockey Jake Barton, who has been aboard Shaws Creek in his last three trips, rides in his first Queen's Plate.

Terra Farm's Classic Mike, trained by Reade Baker, is the morning line second choice at 7-2. He'll be ridden by Jono Jones, also participating in his first Plate, from post five. While the son of Smart Strike has won only twice in five career starts, he finished second in the June 1 Plate Trial.
