Stallions with offspring in the sale include Bertrando, In Excess, Cee's Tizzy, General Meeting, Memo, and Swiss Yodeler, who is this year's leading first crop sire by progeny earnings.
The Del Mar yearling sale will have a bigger catalogue this year. The book lists 159 horses, a 6.7% increase from the 149 that were catalogued in 2001. The auction will be conducted by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association (CTBA) on Aug. 11 and 12 at the Del Mar Horse Park.During last year's edition, 104 horses were sold for a sale record gross of $4,54,000. The average price of $43,663 and the median price of $31,500 also reached their highest points ever.
