Prohibited Practices Regulation Approved by New Jersey Commission

The New Jersey Racing Commission approved the advertisement of a prohibited practices regulation, similar to one approved by the Association of Racing Commissioners International Prohibited Practices Model Rule.

The proposed rule prohibits the possession or use of Erythropoietin (EPO), Darbepoietin, Persluorocarbons (PFC) and other drugs not approved for use by the United States Food and Drug Administration. No recognized analytical method has been developed to detect and confirm the administration of such substances that are believed to endanger the health and welfare of the horse, the safety of the competitors and adversely affect the integrity of racing.
