Winners Federation Names Executive Director

Don Clippinger has been named executive director of the Winners Federation, an umbrella group of organizations and individuals offering lifestyle services to workers in racetrack stable areas across North America.

Clippinger, 57, was awarded the Eclipse Award for outstanding magazine writing in 1996 and is the co-author with Dr. Curtis L. Barrett of "Winners!: The Story of Alcohol and Drug-Abuse Programs in the Horse Racing Industry" (Daily Racing Form Press, 1997). Barrett is a Winners Federation director, and Clippinger retired in June 2000 as managing editor of the Thoroughbred Times .

Winners Federation's goals are to foster development of model substance-abuse programs, to provide assistance to racing organizations and employers seeking to institute substance-abuse programs and drug-free workplaces, and to serve as a clearinghouse of best practices within the industry.

Clippinger resides in Skokie, Illinois, where his wife, former Triple Crown Productions Executive Director Audrey Korotkin, is rabbi of Temple Judea Mizpah.
