Field of Nine Set For Bowling Green Handicap

Eltawaasul and Whitmore's Conn, who finished one-two in a Belmont allowance race on June 21, battle each other again Saturday in the $150,000 Bowling Green Handicap (gr. IIT).

A field of nine will go postward in the 11-furlong turf contest over Belmont's inner grass course.

Three of the nine runners were in that 10-furlong allowance race, with Eltawaasul beating Whitmore's Conn a length and Gritty Sandie finishing fourth. The latter should improve off his first start since last November.

Trainer Bobby Frankel brings Staging Post east from California. His last start was a second in the San Juan Capistrano (gr. IT) at Santa Anita in April.

Moon Solitaire is another shipper, coming from Canada, where in his last outing he won the King Edward Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) at Woodbine June 16.
