Zafonic finished the 2002 Northern Hemisphere season with a full book of mares at £20,000 and will serve his debut season at Arrowfield at A$38,500 (GST included).
Australia's Arrowfield Stud, which recently lost the services of deceased stallion End Sweep, announced that it will stand the proven sire Zafonic (Gone West – Zaizafon by The Minstrel) in 2002 on behalf of Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms. Zafonic has sired 24 stakes winners."Zafonic is a great stallion and we are delighted to secure such a high class horse for our roster," said Arrowfield chairman John Messara. "He was an outstanding racehorse and has gone on to be a top class European stallion. As a proven stallion in the cauldron of European racing, he is a fantastic addition to the Australian breeding scene."
