Tribal Rule Retired to River Edge in California

Six-year-old Tribal Rule, who started only four times in his star-crossed career, has been retired from racing after suffering a sesamoid injury in a July 10 allowance race at Hollywood Park. A homebred for Martin and Pam Wygod, he will enter stud at the couple's River Edge Farm near Buellton, Calif.

A son of Storm Cat, Tribal Rule won two races by a total of 13 lengths and finished second in his other two. He earned $77,600. He is a half-brother to grade I winner Key Phrase, and his dam, Sown (by Grenfall), is a half-sister to the Wygods' foundation stallion Pirate's Bounty.
