Arlington Weekend Includes Preps for Million Day Races

The two biggest days of racing at Arlington Park are getting closer, and the track's horse population is changing accordingly. England's Legend, who won the grade I Beverly D. Handicap last year, is now in Illinois and is expect to run in Saturday's Modesty Handicap (gr. IIIT). That race is one of three this weekend serving as preps for the Aug. 17 Arlington Million (gr. IT), Beverly D. (gr. IT), and Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT). The Modesty is contested at the Beverly D. distance of a mile and
3/16ths on the grass,

"I am heavily backed with fillies and mares in New York right now," said Christophe Clement, who trains England's Legend's legend. "I want to spread them out a little bit," he said.

Apasionata, Cozy Island, Esyoueffcee,Innit, Ioya Two, Pretty Gale, Polaire, and Quick Tip are among those expected for Saturday's race. Pretty Gale furlongs in 1:05 2/5 over the Arlington grass with the "dogs" up Wednesday.

Richard L. Duchossois's Innit breezed five furlongs on the grass in 1:06 3/5 here Monday in preparation for Saturday's race. Innit was recently fourth in the grade III Royal Heroine Stakes at Hollywood Park July 6.
