Hallowed Dreams started her career inauspiciously with an eight-length score in a maiden special-weight at Evangeline Downs on May 20, 1999. She would rattle off 15 more victories in a row, 12 of them in stakes, before meeting her first defeat in a third-place finish in the Millennium Stakes at Evangeline Downs on Aug. 12, 2000. Following her first loss, she then promptly won seven more in a row.She had made only two starts this year, finishing second in the Pan Zareta Handicap at Fair Grounds on Feb. 9 and finishing third in the Valid Expectations Stakes on May 27.In all, Hallowed Dreams won 17 stakes events with her richest pay day coming in the $125,000 Victoria Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds on March 17, 2001. She set a track record at the New Orleans track in that effort, getting six furlongs in 1:08.34. She also set a track record at Evangeline Downs on July 3, 1999 in just her third career start, traveling five furlongs in :57.40.
Hallowed Dreams, the speed-happy Louisiana-bred female that drew national attention when she won her first 16 starts, has been retired according to trainer and co-owner Lloyd Romero. According to Romero, the 5-year-old mare by Malagra out of the Brother Machree mare Pacific's Dream will be bred to Unbridled's Song in 2003.Romero has sent the mare to his farm in Erath, La. Hallowed Dreams, bred in Louisiana by Mike Kennington, is owned by Romero and Johnny Gaspard. Romero said the mare started favoring her right ankle after a gallop in late June. Examinations have not revealed a specific injury and X-rays have shown there is no fracture. In her four-year racing career, Hallowed Dreams won 25 of 30 starts with one second and three thirds. She earned $740,144. Never raced beyond six furlongs, Hallowed Dreams made 27 of her starts in her native Louisiana. Her other three starts came at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.
