The partners have purchased Unbridled Time privately from Robert and Beverly Lewis. The 4-year-old Unbridled's Song colt has been retired from racing after winning five of his 24 career starts and earning $341,889. In addition to the WHAS 11 at Churchill Downs, Unbridled Time captured the Cleveland Gold Cup Stakes at Thistledown and the Green Carpet Handicap at River Downs. The Lewises purchased the colt for $1,150,000 at the 1999 Keeneland September yearling sale.
Randy Hartley and Dean De Renzo have reached an agreement to purchase 150 acres of the late Marvin Warner's Warnerton Farm near Ocala, Fla. They will move the bulk of their pinhooking and breeding operation to the Warnerton property, where the buildings are being renovated in a "French country" style, according to De Renzo. The new farm will also have a new stallion in 2003, the 2000 WHAS 11 Stakes winner Unbridled Time.Hartley and De Renzo have sold their main nursery near Ocala, but will retain a 70-acre annex, where their broodmares will be located. The stallions, weanlings, yearlings, and 2-year-olds will be located at the Warnerton site. The deal on the Warnerton property is scheduled to close Wednesday, De Renzo said.
