Skimming to Stand at Cardiff in California

Multi-millionaire Skimming, winner of the last two runnings of the Pacific Classic (gr. I), has been retired and will enter stud at the Sahadi family's Cardiff Stud Farms near Atascadero, Calif. He will stand for a syndicate for $7,500.

Six-year-old Skimming, who raced as a homebred for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, is closely inbred to Northern Dancer. His sire, Nureyev, is a son of Northern Dancer, and his grade II stakes-winning dam, Skimble (by Lyphard), is a Northern Dancer granddaughter.

Skimming defeated subsequent Horse of the Year Tiznow in the 2000 Pacific Classic. He also captured the 2001 Californian Stakes (gr. II). won consecutive runnings of the graded San Diego Handicap, and was stakes-placed in five graded events.

Skimming, who initially raced in Europe, retires with eight wins from 20 starts and earnings of $2,286,601, most of it earned while trained by Bobby Frankel.
