Russian Rhythm Rallies to Land Lowther Stakes

Cheveley Park Stud's Russian Rhythm rallied from fourth place to win the six-furlong Peugeot Lowther Stakes (Eng-II) for 2-year-old fillies Thursday afternoon at York Racecourse.

Ridden by Kieran Fallon, the daughter of Kingmambo was bothered by the pacesetting Wunders Dream a quarter-mile from home, but was taken off the rail where she pulled away from her five rivals. The 8-13 favorite, Russian Rhythm won by 1 1/4 lengths over Ballylinch Stud's Danaskaya, a daughter of Danehill. Sheikh Mohammed's Romantic Liason finished third, a neck back of Danaskaya. Final time for the race was 1:11.05.

Saeed Manana's Wimple finished fourth, followed by Wunders Dream.

Trained by Michael Stoute, Russian Rhythm was purchased by Cheveley Park Stud at last year's Tattersall's Houghton sale. The final hammer price was the equivilant of $678,770. She was bred in the United States by Elizabeth Moran's Brushwood Stable.
