Bosque Redondo in Good Shape, Surgeon Says

Bosque Redondo was reported in good condition this morning by Dr. Wayne McIlraith following surgery Tuesday for broken sesamoids and a condylar fracture of the right front cannon bone suffered following the finish of Sunday's Pacific Classic (gr. I).

McIlraith said the surgery began at 5 p.m. and was completed by 7. "The surgery went as well as it could," the noted veterinarian said this morning after his return flight to Colorado. "I looked at him this morning and he was doing very well. He had no temperature, he ate well and he was putting weight on the leg. We have the leg in a cast and it will remain on for two to three weeks."

McIlraith said the surgery included insertion of a bone plate and 16 screws.
