Frankel Duo Highlight Del Mar Handicap Sunday

A full gate of 10 horses, including trainer Bobby Frankel's Blue Stellar and Dance Dreamer, appears certain for Sunday's running of the $250,000 Del Mar Handicap (gr. IIT) at 1 3/8 miles over the Jimmy Durante Turf Course.

Frankel is in search of his third victory in a row in the race, the 63rd renewal. He won it last year with Edmund Gann's Timboroa and in 2000 with 3 Plus U Stable's Northern Quest. ,

Expected from the Frankel barn this time are Blue Steller, with Patrick Valenzuela in the irons, and Dance Dreamer, with Kent Desormeaux aboard. Both horses come to the race off solid recent scores on the Del Mar turf.

Committed to tackle that duo are Caveolin, a winner over the course last time out at the Del Mar Handicap distance. Kim Loves Bucky will be an entrymate with Caveolin for owner-trainer John Glenney.

Also entered is Continental Red, a veteran of six straight graded events. Deploy Venture was sixth in the Eddie Read (gr. IT) in his last start.

Homeland was second in the Escondido Handicap.

Mister Kybelee will be making his first start in this country.

The Tin Man won the American Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park in his most recent try.

Also returning is Adminniestrator, who finished second in an allowance race at Del Mar Aug. 15.
