A weanling filly by Trippi, went to Dry Creek Stables for $31,000 to top the first of two open sessions of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2003 Fall Mixed Sale.
Consigned by Cashel Stud, Agent the bay filly, Hip No. 727, is out of Sparkling Honey, by Brown Arc, a daughter of graded stakes winner Honey Fox.
A Cloud Hopping weanling filly consigned by Beth Bayer, agent was sold to Samerin Oaks for $26,000. The dark bay or brown filly is out of Toy Tornado, by Future Storm, a half sister to graded stakes winner Proud Shot.
The session's high priced broodmare was Miss Madeline, a daughter of Woodman in foal to Brahms, purchased by Greystone Manor Farm for $23,000. Consigned by Sez Who Thoroughbreds, the 6-year-old mare is out of stakes winner Winnetka, by Theatrical (IRE).
For the session, 190 horses grossed $743,700, compared with 179 horses bringing a total of $800,800 in the corresponding session last year. The average price was $3,914 compared with $4,474 in 2002, while the median price of $2,700 was identical to last year's figure. The buyback percentage was 20.8%, compared to 29.2% in 2002.
