Eight Vie for Turfway Park Fall Championship

Rock Slide, winner of five of six starts for trainer Neil Howard, is among the favorites in Saturday's $100,000 Turfway Park Fall Championship (gr. III) at 1 1/8 mile. The evenly-matched contest drew eight older horses.

The 4-year-old son of A.P. Indy is owned and bred by Will Farish, James Elkins and W.T. Webber Jr., and ridden by Willie Martinez. This is his first start in graded stakes company.

Tom Hamilton's 8-year-old gelding Neon Shadow, winner of 12 of 29 in his career, is another stepping up into graded stakes company, although the Carl Bowman-trained offspring of Hooched has won more than $400,000.

Frazee's Folly, coming off a second-place finish in the Governor's Handicap at Ellis Park Aug. 24 for owners Gene Voss and Leslie Grimm and trainer Niall O'Callaghan, is another who will attract support.

Other contenders include First Lieutenant, wine of the Salvatore Mile Handicap (gr. III) at Monmouth two starts back July 27, and Crafty Shaw, and Crafty Shaw, who looks to bounce back after four straight losses since capturing the Razorback (gr. III) at Oaklawn in March.
