Sightseek Overcomes Trouble to Win Raven Run

From track reports
Heavily favored Sightseek overcame a sluggish start and lack of racing room on the turn to win the grade III, $171,900 Raven Run Stakes Wednesday at Keeneland.

"She was off a step slow and I felt like I had to send her a little bit to get position because the inside is so good here," said winning jockey Jerry Bailey. "She's a nice one."

It was the third win in four career starts for the 3-year-old daughter of Distant View. She ran seven furlongs in 1:23.98 and earned $106,578 for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms.

"She's the real deal," said winning trainer Bobby Frankel. "She had a ton of trouble. He (Bailey) had to take her up and then she made another run. She had to make her own hole in the stretch and then she had to change course. She ran an amazing race."

Sightseek took the lead in midstretch and pulled away to a 3 ΒΌ-length victory over Miss Lodi, winner of the grade III Safely Kept Stakes in her previous start at Pimlico. It was a head back to third-place Respectful.

Driana finished fourth followed, in order, by Maresha, Wild Kandace, For Rubies, Take the Cake, Spring Meadow, Don't Ruffle Me, Colonial Glitter
and Goodness.

The winner increased her career earnings to $171,978 and paid $3.80, $3 and $2.40. Miss Lodi, ridden by Robby Albarado, returned $4.60 and $3.20 and Respectful, ridden by Brice Blanc, paid $6.
