Graded Stakes Winner Loaded Gun Retired from Racing

Owner/trainer Janis Gerace has announced the retirement of her graded stakes winner Loaded Gun from racing. Loaded Gun, a 7-year-old son of Prosper Fager out of the Iron Ruler mare Great Queen, won 13 of 58 races and earned $633,272. His big win came in the 1999 Philadelphia Park Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) over subsequent champion Artax.

"He's been so good to me for so long; it was just time to retire him," Gerace said. "He's in terrific shape. He just decided that he didn't want to be a racehorse anymore. He's happy now in his paddock on my farm near Vincentown.

Gerace, who campaigned Loaded Gun his entire career, hasn't decided where to stand the eight-time stakes winner.
