Disturbingthepeace Breezes at Santa Anita

Disturbingthepeace breezed five furlongs on Santa Anita's fast main track Wednesday morning under jockey Victor Espinoza in 1:01 in preparation for the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) at Arlington Park on Oct. 26.

"He was supposed to go in around a minute," trainer Darrell Vienna said. "I told Victor not to go too fast with him, because he's been working a little faster than we want. I'm really happy. Victor did a great job with him this morning."

Disturbingthepeace, who will take a six-race winning streak into the Sprint, is a 4-year-old California-bred son of Bold Badgett owned by David and Rita Milch. His fractional times were :25 3/5 and :49 flat.

"The way this horse is working, it's making me excited for the Breeders' Cup again," said Espinoza.

In other Breeders' Cup developments:

* Mel Stute said Buffythecenterfold is definite for the Juvenile Fillies. "We put up our $10,000," Stute said. "I don't know how many pre-entered. We put up the $10,000, and if the race overfills and they don't use you, you get your money back. It's always been that way. But then it costs you another $10,000 to run." Stute plans to ship next Tuesday.

* Bob Baffert said he was "well satisfied" with Vindication's Monday afternoon drill in company with Sugar Babe. "Sugar Babe is a pretty good teammate for him, and he needed a hard workout," Baffert said. Vindication is undefeated in three starts and one of the favorites for the Juvenile (gr. I). "Sugar Babe is one of my best 3-year-olds," Baffert said. "I hope to run him here next week." Vindication worked seven furlongs under jockey Mike Smith in 1:23 4/5.

* Smith has at least six Breeders' Cup commitments as of Wednesday: Came Home (Classic), Vindication (Juvenile); Azeri (Distaff); The Tin Man (Turf); Composure (Juvenile Fillies), and Kalookan Queen (Sprint).
