Composure Works Bullet 6 Furlongs at Santa Anita

Robert and Beverly Lewis' Composure, winner of the Oak Leaf Stakes in her last start, turned in sharp 6-furlong work in 1:10 4/5 at Santa Anita Sunday.

The daughter of Touch Gold, trained by Bob Baffert, captured the Oak Leaf by 3 lengths in her stakes debut, and is expected to be one of the favorites for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Stablemate Santa Catarina, also owned by the Lewises, worked her 6 furlongs in 1:11 1/5.

Also at Santa Anita Sunday, Crafty C.T., runner-up in the Ancient Title BC Handicap, drilled a half-mile in :46 4/5 for the Breeders' Cup Sprint, while The Tin Man, winner of the Clement Hirsch Memorial, worked 5 furlongs in :59 4/5 for the Breeders' Cup Turf.. Golden Apples, who is expected to go off as the favorite in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, tuned up on the turf course, working 5 furlongs in 1:02 3/5.

At Churchill Downs, Breeders' Cup Classic candidate Dollar Bill, worked a half in :50 1/5 over a sloppy track.

"It was a very good work," said trainer Dallas Stewart. "It was a little bit muddy, but it was very safe and firm down on the rail from the half-mile pole on down to the wire. It was just what I thought we needed: an easy half. He had a black-letter work last week and we didn't want to come back with one of those this week."

At Belmont Park, Appleby Gardens, prepping for the Juvenile Fillies, worked 5 furlongs in 1:02 1/5 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
