The Dynaformer gelding finished a fast-closing second in the Sept. 29 Turf Classic Invitational (gr. IT) at Belmont, just a half-length behind Denon.Blazing Fury has won three of 13 starts, taking last year's Saranac Stakes (gr. IIT). All of his starts have come on the East Coast.
Caeser Kimmel and Ronald Nicholson's Blazing Fury has been declared out of Saturday's John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT). He suffered a tendon injury after galloping at Belmont Park Tuesday morning."We sent him out for a gallop this morning. When he came back, I noticed a profile on his right front tendon," trainer Jimmy Toner, who won the 1999 Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT) with Soaring Softly, told The Blood-Horse. "There was reason for concern, so we called the vet in. He did an ultrasound and they found a 10% tear in the tendon, so naturally we are not going to jeopardize the horse. We won't do anything more with him."Toner said the injury is not career ending. "We will give him time off and bring him back next summer," he said of the 4-year-old. "I'm dumbfounded. He was doing everything good and looked good. We did everything right, and then the tendon pops up like that."
